Q1. How does neurodiversity work?
A1. Neurodiversity is a state of variation in the brain’s function, these can occur either from disease or from a trauma in your early days and lastly from Genes or I could say your genetic make-up from birth.
Q2. Why is neurodiversity important?
A2.It’s important because society has led us to believe that being different is bad, that having differences in your brain is bad, knowing that these differences are normal to us and not considered defects.
Q3.When was neurodiversity discovered?
A3.Neurodiversity was discovered or more likely came to light within the 1990’s, to help with the stigma surrounding Autism. A woman by the name of Judy Singer who was a sociologist realized that individuals with Autism their brains functioned differently and rejected the notion that it was an adverse medical condition that needed to be resolved.
Q4.What conditions would you class as neurodiverse?
A4.The conditions that are classed under neurodiversity can include Autism, ADHD, ADD, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
Q5.Can neurodiversity be classed as a competitive edge and if so why?
A5.Yes, it is classed as a competitive edge because the conditions the individuals have gives them the type of brain that can operate at a much higher level than ordinary individuals, which in turn allows for a higher sense of focus and imagination.
